About the Organizer

IILM University has a legacy of excellence in responsible management education since 1993, established under the Ram Krishan & Sons Charitable Trust. IILM University, Gurugram was established under the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2018, and is located in Sector 53, Gurugram. With over 30 years of academic excellence and a network of 16,000+ alumni, the University has established itself as a leading institution of higher education.

The IILM School of Law, established in 2018, offers B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. (Law) programmes. The School is recognised for its strong Trial Advocacy culture, fostered through its student-led Trial Advocacy Committee, which regularly organises mock trials, trial advocacy competitions, witness examination exercises, legal drafting workshops, and expert-led training sessions.

About the Competition

The 1st IILM Trial Advocacy Competition, 2026 is an offline national trial advocacy competition designed to enhance participants' practical litigation skills through simulated trial proceedings.

Competition Dates: 24–26 September 2026

Theme

"Domestic Violence and Abetment of Suicide: Intersection of Criminal Liability, Victim Protection, and Constitutional Safeguards."

The proposition focuses on:

  • Sections 3, 18, 20 and 31 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005

  • Section 85 and the abetment of suicide provisions under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023

  • Constitutional issues relating to:

    • Right to Life

    • Dignity

    • Equality

    • Due Process

Eligibility

  • Open exclusively to students enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programme during the current academic year at any recognised institution.

  • Each institution may send a maximum of two teams.

  • Inter-institutional teams are not permitted. All members of a team must belong to the same institution.

  • Each team shall ordinarily comprise:

    • Speaker 1

    • Speaker 2

    • Researcher

  • With prior approval of the Organising Committee, a two-member team may participate, with one member performing the dual role of Speaker and Researcher.

  • All participating teams must comply with the rules, regulations, and schedule prescribed by the Organising Committee.

Registration & Submission Procedure

Registration Process

Step 1: Pay the prescribed registration fee using the UPI/QR details provided by the organisers.

Step 2: Complete the official Google Registration Form with accurate details.

Step 3: Upload the payment acknowledgement/receipt. Registrations without proof of payment will be treated as incomplete.

Step 4: Upload the Letter of Authorisation issued by the participating institution. Teams failing to submit the letter shall not be eligible.

Step 5: Registration shall be deemed complete only after submission of:

  • Registration Form

  • Payment Acknowledgement

  • Letter of Authorisation

A confirmation email will thereafter be sent to the registered team.

Memorial Submission

  • Online Submission: On or before 15 September 2026

  • Offline Submission: 24 September 2026

  • Four hard copies of each memorial must be submitted during registration on the first day of the competition.

  • Clarifications may be sought through the designated clarification link.

  • Last Date to Seek Clarifications: 5 September 2026

  • Clarifications Released: 8 September 2026
