About the Opportunity
This 2-month intensive internship places you at the intersection of public interest litigation (PIL), human rights, and transformative climate law. Selected interns will play an instrumental role in shaping cutting-edge legal research and evidence-building focused on extreme heat impacts in Delhi, translating lived community experiences into actionable legal strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal & Empirical Research: Conduct in-depth research on extreme heat governance, constitutional environmental jurisprudence, and potential climate litigation frameworks.
- Grassroots Evidence-Building: Engage directly with frontline communities and individuals maintaining Heat Registries in Delhi to document firsthand impacts.
- Testimony Integration: Synthesize community testimonies and qualitative records to explore how grassroots data can substantiate public interest legal actions.
- Litigation Support: Assist the legal team in drafting briefs, compiling evidentiary dossiers, and tracking legal developments across environmental forums.
Eligibility & Candidate Profile
- Open to current law students (LL.B. / B.A. LL.B. / B.B.A. LL.B. / LL.M.) and recent law graduates.
- Demonstrated passion for environmental law, climate justice, and human rights advocacy.
- Strong interest or prior exposure to public interest litigation (PIL) and constitutional remedies.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and community-engagement skills.
