Role & Core Responsibilities
As a Consultant (Legal) at NHSRC, you will serve as a vital legal strategist and research specialist in public health and health equity. Your key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and evaluating policies and regulatory legal frameworks governing public health in India.
- Conducting in-depth legal research and synthesizing complex policy analyses on critical issues such as healthcare access, hospital safety, mental health, disability, gender, and equity.
- Handling legal documentation and multi-disciplinary assignments simultaneously within strict government timelines.
- Collaborating closely with public health experts, government departments, and state legal teams.
- Undertaking field visits and traveling to various states and districts to assess local legal-health implementations.
Eligibility & Experience Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.) obtained through a regular course.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-qualification work experience, including at least 1 year dedicated to the formulation of Public Health Policy.
- Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of India's public health structure and existing health-related legislations.
- Skills: Exemplary legal research, drafting, analytical, and presentation skills. High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Publications: Demonstrated track record of published legal work in health, law, or equity is preferred.
- Desirable Experience: Prior background in hospital regulatory frameworks, mental health legislation, disability laws, gender and sexuality issues, HIV/TB controls, or tobacco regulation.
Compensation & Offer Details
- Remuneration: Competitive monthly stipend ranging between ₹60,000 to ₹1,20,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
- Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as of the application closing date.
- Location: Primary posting in New Delhi, with required travel to various states and districts.
