About the Competition

The prestigious Surana & Surana Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition: North & South Rounds 2026-27 is one of the most highly anticipated trial advocacy events in the Indian legal calendar. Designed to test and nurture the trial court skills of budding lawyers, this competition provides a realistic simulation of criminal trial proceedings, including chief examinations, cross-examinations, and final arguments.

About the Organizers

This landmark competition is organized by Surana & Surana International Attorneys in collaboration with two premier institutions:

• North Rounds: Department of Law, University of Jammu (Scheduled for September 18-20, 2026)
• South Rounds: School of Excellence in Law (SOEL), The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU) (Scheduled for September 25-27, 2026)

The Moot Proposition: Case Overview

The moot case revolves around a tragic homicidal assault involving an estranged couple, Jamie and Cersei. After a history of domestic discord fueled by chronic alcoholism, Cersei was brutally assaulted with a wooden log near the Dorne Bypass Road, leading to her death. The prosecution charges the husband, Jamie, under Sections 103(1) (Murder) and 126 (Wrongful Restraint) of the Baratheon Nyaya Sanhita (interpreted in pari materia with Indian criminal laws). Participants will navigate complex evidence, including:

• First Information Reports (FIR) and Charge Sheets
• Inquest and Post-Mortem Reports detailing craniocerebral injuries
• Forensic Science Reports matching blood group 'B'
• Conflicting statements from eyewitnesses, family members, and defense witnesses

Eligibility & Team Composition

• The competition is open to all students pursuing regular 3-year or 5-year LL.B. degrees from recognized law colleges and universities in India.
• Each team must comprise a designated number of speakers and researchers as per the official rules of the Surana & Surana Moot.
