About the Role
This role offers a standout opportunity for early-career IP lawyers to dive deep into end-to-end trademark prosecution lifecycle management. You will represent clients before the Trademarks Registry, draft substantive responses, and provide strategic advisory services across diverse industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Trademark Prosecution: Handling end-to-end trademark prosecution workflows, including filing, examining reports, and drafting comprehensive responses to office actions.
- Registry Advocacy: Preparing for and representing clients in hearings before the Trademarks Registry across various jurisdictions.
- Opposition & Rectification: Drafting notices of opposition, counter-statements, and evidence in support of opposition/rectification proceedings.
- Client Advisory & Portfolio Management: Conducting trademark searches, clearance analysis, and offering risk mitigation advice to domestic and international clients.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years of dedicated post-qualification experience in Intellectual Property Law with a focus on trademark prosecution.
- Demonstrated Registry Experience: Proven track record of independently or collaboratively attending and arguing matters before the Trademarks Registry.
- Legal Acumen: Strong drafting skills, analytical aptitude, and command over the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and related procedural rules.
- Professionalism: Excellent verbal communication, research efficiency, and client-management abilities.
